The project is centred in Coimbra, Portugal, a UNESCO World Heritage site on the Mondego River known for its historic university, cultural landmarks and rich heritage. Activities span the city's vibrant historic core, UNESCO-protected zones, and diverse regional attractions, integrating local communities and businesses in a sustainable tourism ecosystem.
Urban authorities
As the Main Urban Authority, Coimbra Municipality leads the COIMBRA Sustainable Tourism LLM project, ensuring its alignment with local and regional priorities. Coimbra oversees project coordination, governance and stakeholder engagement, managing activities such as the creation of the Welcome Centre 4.0 and pilot projects. By driving sustainability initiatives and fostering innovation, the municipality ensures the project delivers lasting benefits for Coimbra region and its communities.

Transfer partners
Transfer Partners are urban authorities that join the EUI-Innovative Action project to observe and learn. Their primary aim is to enhance the adaptability of the project's solutions to different urban contexts within the EU. These partners play a crucial role in facilitating knowledge exchange among EU cities and fostering innovation. They come from different EU member states than the project Main Urban Authority and participate during the project's implementation phase. Each project generally involves three Transfer Partners. The involvement of Transfer Partners is vital for ensuring the project's innovative solutions are effectively adaptable and replicable in various contexts across the EU.
