EUI is looking for Capacity Building Experts

The European Urban Initiative (EUI) is excited to announce six new opportunities for experts to work on our three capacity building activities.

We are currently looking for:

  • City-to-City exchange coordinator 
  • City-to-City exchange moderator
  • Peer Review expert
  • Event methodology expert
  • Event curriculum designer
  • Event moderator

In the application form, you have the opportunity to select the role(s) for which you would like to apply.

City-to-City Exchange

 

City-to-City Exchange Coordinator

The City-to-City Exchange Coordinator will assist the EUI Permanent Secretariat in managing and promoting City-to-City Exchange activities. They will develop enhanced implementation support packages, organise training sessions for moderators, and contribute to matchmaking activities. Additionally, they will play a key role in promoting the open call for exchanges and ensuring smooth delivery of related activities.
Indicative workload: approximately 20 working days for an initial 3-month period (possibility for long-term role) 

City-to-City Exchange Moderators

City-to-City Exchange Moderators provide hands-on support to beneficiaries in planning and implementing their exchanges. Their responsibilities include facilitating matchmaking, assisting with agenda development, and fostering collaboration among peers. Moderators also help beneficiaries document key lessons and recommendations to maximize the impact of their exchange experiences.
Indicative workload: approximately 9 working days per exchange

Peer Review 

 

Peer Review experts

Peer Review experts enhance beneficiaries' capacity to develop and implement SUD strategies effectively and inclusively. They evaluate peer review applications, guide beneficiaries in preparing analysis and documentation, and moderate sessions during peer review events. Experts also draft comprehensive follow-up reports to support continuous learning and integration of best practices.
Indicative workload: between 10 – 12 working days per peer review 

Capacity Building Events

 

Event methodology experts

Event methodology experts provide strategic guidance to event teams during the initial conceptualisation and preparation of interactive training components. They apply their urban knowledge to recommend tools and methodologies that enhance the effectiveness of training and capacity-building outcomes. Their expertise ensures that events are designed to foster meaningful engagement and practical learning for participants.
Indicative workload: between 1-3 working days for each capacity building event (up to 9 events planned per expert in 2025)

Curriculum designer

Curriculum designers create and implement concepts for capacity-building events of various scales, drawing on initial input from the EUI. They are responsible for designing sessions, preparing concept notes, identifying and briefing speakers, and delivering specific event sessions. Additionally, they coordinate teams of event moderators and other contributing experts to ensure cohesive and impactful event delivery.
Indicative workload: approximately 12 working days per event

Expert moderator

Expert moderators focus on preparing and delivering interactive sessions within capacity-building events. Their responsibilities include creating session scripts, moderating sessions of various sizes and formats, and ensuring seamless collaboration with curriculum designers and the team of experts. 
Indicative workload: up to 5 working days
