Viana do Castelo
Viana S+T+ARTS Centre - The Place for Arts-Driven Blue Innovation
The S+T+ARTS Centre is established through ‘creative reuse’ of the Old Municipal Slaughterhouse in Viana do Castelo. This approach brings together history, heritage and urban renewal, promoting urban requalification and social inclusion in the area. The centre’s design will demonstrate innovative energy-efficiency and circular solutions.
The centre will become a space for co-creation and participatory activities in a variety of artistic, scientific and technological fields to develop unconventional solutions. This supports Viana’s transformation into a blue innovation hub and help attract young talents to the city.
Our main challenges...
A need for a strong catapult mechanism to harness the potential of new blue technologies.
The deficit of young talent leaving local industry with difficulties to attract qualified personnel.
