Building blocks for the area-oriented approach to quality of life and safety in vulnerable areas

As part of the creation of its Urban Regeneration Strategy, Den Helder (Netherlands) was looking for an innovative and integrated solution with citizens involvement based on proper data analysis and the ability to apply a new type of toolbox, addressing challenges specific to coastal port cities. After consulting national sources for solutions, Den Helder reached out to Ravenna and Svendborg, peers from the European Maritime Days (EMD) Cities network, a network of European coastal cities facing similar issues caused by the current transitions in ports.
