As part of our capacity building activities, the European Urban Initiative is glad to welcome and support 9 new cities via Peer Reviews. Benefiting from the shared knowledge of urban professionals across Europe, targeted and continuous expert support, in-person workshops, and study visits, the nine selected cities are embarking on a unique process designed to enhance their Sustainable Urban Development strategies.

After meeting at the end of April 2024, the EUI Selection Committee approved 22 projects within the framework of its EUI-Innovative Actions Call 2.

Turin has set an impressive precedent as host of the 2023 Cities Forum. The city has showcased its abilities not only as a vibrant urban centre, but also as a model of urban innovation and cooperation. 

Food plays a central role in our family and social lives – acting as the hub around which many other interactions and activities take place. Increasingly, food is being used in the same way in an urban development context – the hub around which a host of social, environmental and economic objectives are being achieved.

At a time when sustainable development and food security are more important than ever, the EUI City-to-City Exchange between the municipalities of Schaerbeek and Copenhagen is an example of how EU cooperation can strengthen local strategies and initiatives related to sustainable food systems.
